Hexagonal Waste Basket

This piece is adapted from a wastebasket attributed to Charles Rohlfs. I call this piece an adaptation, and not a reproduction, because I used maple, not oak as in the original. I also changed the dimensions and details of the construction. I added the copper canister, and wrought iron nails.

This piece is made from reclaimed maple. Its original use is unknown. Its nail patterns suggest that it might have been a shipping pallet or crate.

All edges are eased by hand carving. All surfaces are gently distressed. Coloration is intentionally varied. Carved tulip motif appears on all six sides.

Hand hammered copper, antiqued finish
